Hi Aaron…. Your site is such a blessing, and very much appreciated…. I have a difficult time with strumming fast tempos, for example, Open the eyes of my heart…. I have a hard time keeping the right hand moving, and I was wondering if you might have some suggestions for overcoming this… I do practice, but these quick tempos get me every time… Thanks , and God Bless

Do you always use a pick? I know it’s easier with one, but I wasn’t sure if it was really necessary.

i’m glad to know that i am not the only one whose been struggling with strumming for the past year. I almost feel like giving up until I saw your site. You explained it in a way that I understand. Most importantly, you play so well yet you still vividly able to address some difficulties of a new player. thanks

hey thats awesome! a fellow teacher. I’m glad my lessons are helping you. And yes, strumming patterns are somewhat hard to learn. Learning by counting rhythms is the best way in my book. take care!

    Aaron,
Found you site last week and it is amazing! I have been trying to teach myself guitar and I always get caught up when I get to strumming. I am a music teacher/ band director and the counting you use to teach this is so helpful (I am very happily married to rhythmic notation.) Thanks again for the videos and your band’s message.
