Hey Friends,

Recently, I’ve decided to start recording songs that you guys can listen to and download for free. In songwriting, and co-writing, many songs are written- of which most sit on shelves never heard or played. So I’ve decided to write songs and release them for free on YouTube and my music site. I write every week, so I try to produce and record at least on song every week. Some weeks I may not be able too because of travels and holidays. Some weeks I might just take a break from writing haha. But for the most part, I will continue to add more and more songs for you to listen to.

Today, I just finished recording a song called “Your Love Is Alive”. It’s a cross between a spiritual rock song and Christian worship. The song is about those moments when tragedy happens, or just those times in life that you feel like God is nowhere to be found and you are really looking hard for Him and just can’t seem to find Him. Maybe you are looking in the wrong place, maybe you think you are looking but it’s actually you who God is looking for and waiting for a response. The fact is, God is right here with us at all times. All you have to do is call his name and He’s here, alive, with us.

Happy 2012: “I Dare You To Move” -Jon Foreman

Tonight, I have to say that I had the best New Years I’ve ever had. I was blessed enough to play WinterFest 2011 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA yesterday and decided to stay another night to watch some of my favorite bands ever- Red, Tenth Avenue North, and Switchfoot- sharing it with my wife, brother and his wife. During a quick message after Red’s performance, I watched as over 1000 youth stood unashamed and gave their life to God, while another 6000 people cheered in their salvation. What a perfect way to start the year- to start a new life.

During the Tenth Avenue North show, Mike (lead singer) walked out into the audience and blessed my heart as he reminded us that God has given us everything. We focus on what we can try to do for ourselves, or what we can try to do for God for New Years resolutions, but we forget that God doesn’t need us at all. We, I, am only privileged enough that the God that created the Universe, the Multiverse, the complete beginning and the end, has given me opportunities to obey what he asks of me to do. I am honored to know that God, my father, has had conversations with me, loves me, and even died for me. God is a loving God, and has given life for those to accept Him. He has given us the ultimate gift. Imagine what God can do in our lives if we stop focusing on ourselves so much, and completely focus our lives on Him.

Later on, I was backstage as Switchfoot got ready to start their show. I watched as the five guys that create Switchfoot stood in a circle, bonding in arms, and praying before they played. I grew up listening to Switchfoot, loving the creativity in sound, and admiring their lyrics. So to see a band that has been so successful in both the secular and Christian music industry still staying true to the God that gave them success, really gave me hope that God is still the king in the lives of ones he raises up. Even though some fall, there are still the strong hearted, God fearing, faithful believers.

As Switchfoot was rocking the house, me and many other of the bands there stood watching and admiring the Switchfoot show. Mike and I talked a bit about how we both are in love with Jon Foreman and secretly have a crush… kidding, but he really is a great artist and lyricist. I told Mike about how I saw Switchfoot praying before they played and how it blessed me to know that there are still people that stay true to God and do not let success and the world blind their faith, as many in the industry do. Mike agreed that “Swtichfoot” are soild great guys, but said “You know none of us are perfect- we are all sinners and unworthy of salvation. It’s only by God’s grace that we are saved and used by Him”. We are all sinners. There isn’t better sinners and worse sinners. We are ALL sinners. It’s amazing that God uses any of us for his glory, but he is gracious and merciful and powerful enough to do so. I immediately had to reflect and realize that yes he is right. I am a sinner… a dirty, worldly sinner that has disobeyed God time and time again… but God still chose to save my soul and give me life. God uses me for his glory and doesn’t have to at all. He doesn’t need me, but chooses me… and I am so honored. You really blessed me tonight Mike. Thanks for being used by God.

Switchfoot played their “last” song 1 minute before new years. As the audience cheer for an encore, they walked back on stage and led the crowd in the count down for the new years. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… “Welcome to the planet, Welcome to existence”… “I Dare You To Move!”… Switchfoot begins their famous song “Dare You To Move”. I then thought about the 1000 or so youth that gave their lives to Christ a few hours earlier and now welcome them to the planet- welcome them to their new existence in Christ. I dare you to move this new years, I dare myself to move… I dare you do move for Christ, let go and let Christ take control of your life and see what happens.

I love all of you guys. Thanks for a great year in 2011. See you soon. -Aaron

Late Christmas Present To Everyone: Free Practice Tracks!

Friends,

I hope that all of you guys had a great Christmas. I sure did… After driving around 3 states, I finally got to see most all my family and my wife’s family this Christmas season and I am grateful that I could do so. After this last Give-a-Way, I was trying to think of something I could give out to everyone this year for Christmas, and since I don’t have millions to spend on gifts for all my website fans and friends… I figured something cool to make available for free… the practice tracks. If you’ll navigate on the website to the left navigation, and down to the “Practice Tracks” links, click on it and you’ll find all the tracks to play/stream and download. Previously, I have had these tracks to purchase for $.99 each, and I thank all of you so much who have paid for these in the past. Now, they are free. I also plan to add more practice tracks and video lessons to go with them (for free), so keep coming back to see if there are more available to watch and download. This next year will be a fun year. Hopefully, I’ll have the guitar book I’m writing finished, lots of Give-a-Ways, many more free videos, and now many more free practice tracks.

Working On Right Now : Nose Pedal, Book, Lessons, Recording…

Hey everyone. I’ve been a slacker on making new video lessons lately, please forgive me. This site will always be here and I’ll always be adding new material throughout the years. Currently, I’ve very busy with many different things. I’m working with my Nose Pedal business more and more because of the quick growth and demand of the products which I’m super excited about. Very soon there will be many more pedals added to the Nose Pedal family. Look for the feedback looper, stereo volume, and more.

I’ve also decided to write a book based on my video lessons and other musical learning methods. I’ve been meaning to write a book on all my lessons and certain methods of learning and now I believe I have a good idea for doing so. While I’ve only begun the outline, I plan for this book to have a lot of information… so I have know idea when I expect to finish it. I’m going to take my time throughout the next few months and write a cool and unique book for a better learning experience. Upon finishing, I’ll first release it on the website for digital download.

I plan to have some new pedal demos, pedal lessons, and guitar lessons up in the next two months. I don’t have any major tours coming up, so I’m able to spend more time getting other work done. So look out for new videos soon.

Finally… I’ll also be recording these next two months. I have to keep on the DL for now, but I’m excited to get started working on this project. For you guys who follow my band Finding Favour, keep on the look out (with your ears). So thanks guys for all of your support… I’m so blessed to have “fans” like you guys, or better yet “friends” that follow my website and my band, and send me uplifting messages and prayers. Last Give-a-Way Winner Video

Hey everyone. I’ve just released new Nose Expression pedals. I thought I’d write a blog sharing what these new pedals do, along with what all the other ones do as well. The new Nose pedals to the line up is the Nose Blue, Nose Blue 2, and the Nose Plus. Now that there is a total of five different Nose pedals, they all do something different and have something cool about them. There are two different basic types of expression pedals- a Stereo (TRS) 1/4″ and a Mono (TS) 1/4″ expression. The most common expression is the Stereo connection expression. Brands like Line 6 and Eventide require a Mono (TS) expression pedal while brands like Boss, Strymon, Electro Harmonix and many others require a Stereo (TRS) expression pedal. A good comparison would be that the Mono Nose pedals are like the Line 6 EX-1, and the Stereo Nose pedals are like the M-Audio EX-P or the Roland EV-5.

My Current Pedalboard & New Custom Pedals

A lot of YouTube users along with users of AaronsGuitarLessons.com have asked about my pedalboard and if I’m going to be making videos of what I use. The answer is, absolutely. Not only am I going to be making video demos of the pedals I use, I’m also going to make lessons on creating sounds and how to use the right pedals to enhance your guitar playing and tone….. PLUS… I’ll be making videos on the new Custom Pedals that are coming to the AaronsGuitarLessons.com Online Store.

Currently on my board I have 4 custom pedals and two modded pedals. The custom pedals include my Nose Expression pedal, and 3 new pedals by PH Pedals- the Silly Fuzz (yellow pedal), Octave (8 ball black pedal), and the Clean Boost Boom! pedal (red). The PH Pedal line are all pedals that my buddy, Mike Richardson, has developed in which I am honored to help in the design and marketing of these amazing sounding pedals. From the circuit boards, the wiring, and paint designs- all of the PH Pedals are completely hand built, tested, and crafted to perfection with the highest of standards in parts. I am truly excited to see these pedals come on tour with me and be apart of the launching of these guitar pedals. So, this means that all of you guys are going to be able to have a hand in feedback on a brand new pedal line when you buy and hear these new pedals on AaronsGuitarLessons.com!

The Pedals On My Pedalboard:

Line 6 M9 – Amazing pedal. At first, I wasn’t crazy about the Line 6 digital sounds in the early stages of their company. But this pedal is legit. The sounds are amazing, and there are TONS of them. You can use up to 3 effects at a time and have 6 effects on deck to choose from. It has everything you need from EQs, to delays, tremolos, and great sounding reverbs… my personal favorite is the Octo Reverb. Don’t forget the 28 seconds of Looping power, which I use all the time live. I’m not to crazy about the Overdrives on this pedal, they sound decent, but don’t compare to my True Bypass Analong Overdrives and Distortions on my board.

Line 6 DL 4 – I got this pedal before my M9. Once I got the M9, I decided to keep this too. It’s great to have multiple delays working at the same time. You can come up with some cool sounding delay effects when doing so. Even though the M9 has all these delays already, it’s nice to have extra stomps ready to go with preset delays for stomp… and running 2 loop stations is cool too.

Ernie Ball Volume Jr. – Gotta have a volume pedal. I put it at the end of my chain because I want it to cut ALL of my sound when I turn my volume down… like the excess delays and other after tones of the pedals. I use my volume knob on my guitar right now for swells and such.

BBE Stomp – This pedal is cool for getting some single note leads to stand out a bit. It’s basically a cool EQ boost and correction penetrating certain low end and high end frequencies.

BBE Boosta Grande – This was my first clean boost. It’s great. I use it at the beginning of my chain to boost certain guitars with their natural sound.

BBE Green Screamer – This overdrive is… ok. I basically only use it to double my other overdrive and fatten up my lead when playing certain things. Kinda like a “More” button. I never really use it by itself.

Lovepedal Eternity mod (white pedal) – This is a custom modded pedal that my buddy Mike Richardson did for me. It’s an exact clone of the Lovepedal Eternity. It came from a Boss SD-1 case which I painted white. To me, this is the best overdrive I’ve ever heard… so that’s why I don’t use the BBE Green Screamer by itself much. I use this pedal for both lead and rhythm playing. It sounds amazing.

Blue Comp Pedal – This is another mod that Mr. Richardson did for me. It obviously came from a Boss Compressor/Sustain. He cleaned up the noise and adjusted the sustain to last longer. It can also be used as a cool boost pedal. I don’t even like compressor pedals, but this one sounded so good, Mike talked me into it.

ISP Deciminator – This is the best Noise Gate pedal on the market. One simple knob. I HATE pedal noise and amp noise, especially when it’s coming through the mics… this pedal pretty much takes care of all my problems.

Nose Expression – Yup, this is the pedal I build and sell. It’s simply a small and compact expression that works with my Line 6 products. I love it… and love selling it.

BOOM! pedal – This is a custom pedal by PH Pedals. It’s 30db of clean boost and is my main lead boost pedal.

Silly Fuzz – This pedal is another custom pedal by PH Pedals and is two pedals in one. It can be used as a great sounding Distortion or Metal pedal, or be adjusted to have that rock fuzz sound. It’s super powerful and loud and one of the best I’ve ever heard.

Octave (8 Ball) – This is a very cool octave pedal, by PH Pedals. It’s basically 4 volume pots (knobs) that control 4 different octaves of a single note. 2 down, 1 down, your note, and 1 up. You can adjust how loud you want each octave to be along with your current note. It’s a very versatile octave pedal and can be used it all styles of music when used correctly.

Wow, What a Busy Few Weeks!… I’m coming back I promise :)

Hey Guys. Wow… I’ve been scattered and very swamped the last few weeks, and for the next few weeks to come. As many of you already know, I’ve recently got married to an awesome girl. Everything went great, I couldn’t have asked for a better ceremony and reception. Thanks to all of you guys for your best wishes and prayers for my marriage. They all mean a lot I assure you! So I got married, went on my honeymoon, then went straight to playing summer camps… but took my wife with me for awhile I am now in the process of moving, then I’ll be back out on the road again for most of the entire summer playing camps and other show dates. So I hope to see some of you guys there. You can check my tour schedule here . As soon as I get a bit more settle, I’ll start back making videos and lessons. I’ll continue the normal video lessons that I have planned to do already, and I’ll be making new videos on my pedalboard, gear, and other live road stuff. I’ve got a lot of requests to make more videos on my pedalboard. I think it’ll be a good idea, especially with all the new custom pedals by PH Pedals that am going to start selling soon on my website. PH Pedals is a brand new custom pedal company that I an truly happy about helping with the marketing, designing, and promotion of the pedals. Three pedals are already ready to go… I just got to get them into the store and create the video demos!

The instrument 1/4in jack is on the back of the guitar which is cool to me. The volume and tone knobs are also coil taps and the tuning gears are locking. The color is a dark red, although Brian Moore calls it “Chocolate”. There is very little cosmetic damage on the guitar. The intonation is great. The guitar comes with the original case. Only One More Week for AaronsGuitarLessons.com :( — JK, This Was My April Fools Joke

Hey guys. First I would like to say thank you to all you who have supported me for the past 2 years as AaronsGuitarLessons.com has grown. Sadly to say, this week will be the last week for the website. Because the site is non-profit, a few music and publishing organizations like MENC, AMA, MPRCS (Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society) have been raising cases and copyright issues regarding the material I am teaching, and the songs that I give tutorials on. They deal with making profits on music teaching material that is taught in the United States. It’s hard for American sites to fight these cases because of our laws, unlike sites like Ultimate-Guitar.com which is based out of Russia- American laws do not apply. Later, I may try to start a new website based on this one which will have to retain a membership fee, but I’m not sure yet. It may take a few months to a year to get back online as well because I’m currently on a few tours, and my band starts recording the album soon. The currently Give-a-way drawing will still be held on April 5th, but the site will have to shut down soon after… please click here if you are concerned and would like to sign the petition!

Worldwide Language Translation Project For Video Lessons

Over the last few months, more and more people from all over the world have contacted me about translating my website, video lessons, and chord charts into other languages- either asking when this might happen, or if their is a way to help. I’m all for this idea. I think it would be a great asset to add to the website. I’m contemplating putting together a group of people who are interested in helping with the translation of the video lessons, chord charts, and anything else you would like to translate on the website. This can quickly become a big project, so we will need amazing organization and commitment. If you feel like this could be a calling for you, then please respond on this post or by contacting me through my contact form accessed at the bottom right of the website. Also, if you feel like you would have any important ideas, or insight into this project… please let me know as well. This will be a long term project. I would like to put together a team of people from all over the world who will coordinate with each other and myself online. I will be working on web development ideas and tools that could make this organization process easier and more successful, while the team I put together will be helping with translation. Think about how many more people we can reach with music and ministry tools for learning music in churches, schools, and personal fun all over the world if this website began to transform into a multilingual website. Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you know that the HD Fundraiser is complete. I was able to raise $1500.00 with 47 donations. WOW! That’s an average of $32.00 a person in giving. You guys know how to give. May God bless you for it. I got some new equipment, and I’ve got one last piece coming. I’ll start making a few new videos very soon. I’ll have some tweaking to do with the new equipment, but the videos will get better and better. Thank you so much for your patience in this, and thank you even more for your support. Everytime I get a donation to the site I get a big smile and a great feeling because it’s awesome to know that you guys are supporting me and free online learning. By supporting the website you are also helping others to learn for free, so we are all working for a good cause together. Hopefully I’ll get in the rest of my equipment, but be looking for new lessons this month.

Facebook Integration

I have recently integrated Facebook commenting into the comment system of the website. Now if you are signed in to your Facebook account, you can comment on any post or video lesson with Facebook comment integration. You can still comment by signing in with Google, or comment by Email. Facebook comment just adds one more way to comment and interact with me and other users on the website. Thanksgiving – I’m Thankful For YOU!

This week I went out of the country for Thanksgiving, just returning today on Friday. Once I came back, I was proud to see the number of emails, great comments, donations, and overall support that I get from YOU, my users. I am obviously thankful for my great and loving family, my great friends and band members of Finding Favour, and thankful for my health and talents, but I’m also very thankful for all of you guys that support AaronsGuitarLessons.com, especially the ones who take their time and money to contribute donations to my fundraisers. These donations never go overlooked. I see them all and thank you each for them personally, and it is such a blessing to me and this website when donations come in. Those of you who donate are actively helping others who use the site for free as well but may not be able to make donations. As more donations come in, and more users actively support the site, AaronsGuitarLessons.com can only grow bigger and better for YOU. So, Thanks. DVDs Are Available For Download!

I’ve just worked on the website for a few days. One new feature that I have added to the Store is Digital DVD Downloads. This will allow you to download and save the DVD titles to your computer. This is much cheaper than ordering the DVDs, and you can decide if you want to watch the downloaded files on your computer at anytime, or you can make your own DVDs by burning the ISO file to a DVD+R and then watch on your TV. Please make use of this feature!

I have a few more ideas like this I may be doing in the future. My next DVD project will be a training DVD on Praise & Worship. The DVD will feature lessons on proper chords and voicings for praise and worship style, lessons on lead guitar for praise and worship, and “How To Play…” lessons on certain songs. I haven’t yet started this DVD project because I want to finish up my HD Upgrade Fundraiser.

As I took a few days to work on the site, I posted information about what I’ve been up too along with the updates on the HD Upgrade Fundraiser. I raised an extra $122.00 in those 2 days. Thanks! For those of you that do not know about the fundraiser- I am upgrading video equipment so that my videos will be in HD quality. This will improve all visual learning and allow for more cool features on the lessons. The lessons will also be in widescreen format to allow for better views of the entire body of the guitar. Close ups of my fingers will also be clearer. Please support this upgrade, even if it’s only a small donation! Thanks.

Digital Downloads Of DVD Lessons. Good Idea? Feedback Needed.

I’m thinking about making the video lesson files and the DVD iso files available for digital download in the store. I know many of you enjoy buying the actual DVDs and thank you for doing so. But would you guys also like me to make the DVDs and other files downloadable? It would be cheaper for you to download the DVDs and burn the ISO files to your won DVD+R discs, and faster. I can offer a few ways to download. I’ll probably do a direct download off my server, and also make a torrent of the files so that you could download the large files with uTorrent or other torrent programs. A torrent downloader would be handy if you need to download pieces of the files here and there over a period of time. I’m thinking this will be a good idea for me and all of you guys who use the website. Comment below and give me your feedback on the idea. Would you buy a cheaper downloadable DVD? Would you like to download the .wmv files as well? I’m looking forward to your feedback.

Just walked off stage in Ohio…

Today is October 7th, it’s 9:18PM EST, and I have just finished playing a show in Cedarsville, Ohio, at Cedarsville University, on the Downhere “You Are Not Alone” tour. Wow, that first sentence was a mouth full! I just had the opportunity to meet a few of you guys, and I must say that this city is a very welcoming city. It’s nice to play for a big crowd of your peers. I hope you guys enjoyed tonight as much as we did. Thank you so much for having us.

I haven’t really had much time to make new video lessons lately. We are constantly playing shows on this tour, and when we aren’t playing shows, we are back in Nashville writing and recording for our new album and single. I have been able to upgrade video equipment a bit and hope to get a few new video lessons out on the website soon…… oooooo, break…… my good friend Dustin just came and gave me a great shoulder rub (i needed that after doing the Insanity workout today)………. so anyway back to the website. Yes, I can’t wait to find some time to get going on new video lessons. I’ve been brain storming on a few ideas for a new DVD to sell while I’m out on tour and I might do a praise and worship training DVD and incorporate a few lessons of our new songs that will be coming out soon. I can’t wait for you guys to hear our new songs. I hope they minister to you as much listening to them as they have ministered to us while we have written them. So if you think that is something that you’d like to see, then comment on this post with your feedback. I get a lot of feedback from youth leaders, youth group worship leaders, and music ministers that enjoy my worship lessons as well as the worship song lessons. Hey everyone. I really need your help in this…

As many of you know, I have been making free video lessons for about a year and a half now on this website. The video lessons will always be free. All my videos are self-produced and as you probably have noticed, I have not made any video lessons in a few months. This is because I do not want to make another video lesson without having full High Definition video quality. Currently my videos are lower resolution and could be much better. Since my videos are free and are used by you, the viewer, I am starting a fundraising campaign for all my users to help me with- that will, in turn, benefit you greatly.

I am going to raise money from any AaronsGuitarLessons.com users who would like to support the cause. Once upgraded to full HD, all my video lessons will then be much better viewing quaility. You’ll be able to view my guitar neck, fingers, and frets much better with sharper close ups than ever before. This will improve your learning experience greatly. Not only will I be upgrading equipment, but I will be upgrading to equipment that will also be portable. This will allow me to transport my video lessons studio wherever I go on tour with Finding Favour so that I will always be able to make video lessons in my free time.

Preparing For The New Album

Hi. As many of you know, I play in a band called Finding Favour. To make a really long story short, we are signing with INO Records and must prepare for our new album. This means that I will be spending alot of time in writing with the band, other writers, and producers. The entire month of September is currently being scheduled for writing sessions in Nashville. I will be touring most of August, then writing in September, then jumping on a new tour with Downhere starting in October. I will be getting back home from time to time throughout the next 3 months and when I do, I will try to get new video lessons made. There have been so many requests lately that I can not keep up with them, BUT I am reading all the requests. I still have many videos on this website that should keep you guys going and learning for awhile though. If it gets to the point where I don’t have much time at home to make video lessons while I’m off the road, then I’ll rig up some type of portable video studio to carry with me. This website has been a passion of mine and is stilling growing, so I have no plans of stopping.

Back to INO Records, we are hoping to expect our first nationwide single on all major Christian radio stations towards the ending of this year, 2010. We have many songs to choose from so we haven’t completely decided on our first single. In the music industry you have one chance to release your first single, and one chance to release your first album. So I expect lots of support from all my AaronsGuitarLessons.com users!!! HaHa. Currently on Summerfest Tour with Building 429

Good day everyone. I hope everyone had a great July 4th. My band played an outdoor show in St. Louis, and got stormed on. Luckly, none of our equipment was messed up. I’m currently on a 2 day break from the Summerfest tour with Building 429, Britt Nichole, Mikes Chair, and us, Finding Favour. To see our tour schedule click here. If you are in the area, come out to the show and watch some great bands. The tour has been going very smooth thus far and I hope will continue to do so, although this 21 hour drive from Texas to Atlanta has been long enough. I’m ready to get out of this van. The tour will resume Tuesday, the 12th of July. Keep up with us and these bands on tour, great music is in store for you!
